Design of the week. Chyngyz Tashtemirov. A poster for the film “Léon”
In today’s world graphic design plays an enormous role in the growth of the creative economy. That is exactly why our graphic design studio is led by Kyrgyzstan’s foremost designer, Alexey Lysogorov. In his classes our students are already producing a great deal of interesting work, which is why Alexey suggested we report on our students’ achievements every week by establishing a “Design of the Week” competition.
Our students recently worked on film posters, and the best of them was judged to be the poster for Luc Besson’s “Léon”, created by Chyngyz Tashtemirov of the Media Design and Visual Arts programme.
What makes this piece unique is not only its striking design but its execution: the silhouette was hand-cut from red card and laid over text printed from the original work, after which the whole thing was photographed.
From now on, all final graphic design pieces will go through a special selection process. We will be sure to show you the most interesting work, and the best design will be put on display in the reception area of our College.
You will soon be able to get to know the profession of graphic designer more closely in an interview with Alexey Lysogorov, part of a new series on our YouTube channel. Watch out for the announcement!
